Patrick is a heritage consultant with a background in architecture and a  appreciation for the layers of history embedded in our built environment. I specialise in providing practical, timely advice for development projects involving heritage places, character areas, and conservation precincts. My work spans heritage impact assessments, conservation planning, and tailored support for development applications and restoration works. I place strong emphasis on clear communication and collaborative problem-solving to ensure heritage values are respected while allowing projects to move forward with confidence. Through Orton Heritage, my goal is to support clients with insightful, accessible heritage advice at every stage of their project.

I’ve had the privilege of working on a wide range of heritage places across Queensland and Northern New South Wales, including countless places of local and State heritage significance. This includes  work with and understanding character precincts, individually listed heritage properties, and larger institutional sites. The following is a list of some of the councils I have experience working in:

Brisbane City Council

Toowoomba Regional Council

Ipswich City Council

Gold Coast City Council

Moreton Bay City Council

Tweed Shire Council

This broad regional experience gives me a practical understanding of local planning schemes, heritage overlays, and the varied approaches councils take to managing development within heritage contexts. Whether you’re navigating a DA, planning a restoration, or simply seeking advice, I can provide solutions that are grounded, responsive, and heritage-sensitive.
